Fire Department > Employment
Applications for employment are available one (1) time per year. Local newspapers (the Vidette-Times and the Post Tribune) advertise the dates and locations where those interested can obtain an application.
The Valparaiso Fire Department has four (4) steps to the process of becoming a firefighter. After completing the application, the applicant will be given 1) a swim test; 2) an agility test; 3) a written test; and 4) an oral interview. The applicant must past all four (4) steps before being accepted.
The Fire Department is not taking applications at this time. Please call (219) 462-8325 Monday thru Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm should you have any questions or concerns.
